3 Interior Design Trends I'm Loving After Visiting High Point Market

From equestrian-inspired interiors to beautiful finishing details, these are the design trends catching my eye and inspiring the way I think about home.

There is something so inspiring about seeing what is happening in the world of interior design and discovering the details that make you stop, take a second look, and think, I love that.

After visiting High Point Furniture Market, I've been thinking a lot about the direction interior design is moving. I'm especially drawn to spaces that feel warm, layered, and full of personality. The kind of rooms that make you want to sit down, get comfortable, and stay awhile.

I'm also loving the return to traditional design elements, beautiful craftsmanship, and those little details that make a space feel thoughtfully collected rather than pulled straight from a showroom.

Here are three interior design trends I'm especially excited about right now, and how I would love to see them incorporated into the home.

1. The Equestrian-Inspired Interior: Classic, Collected, and Full of Character

If you love the Ralph Lauren Polo Club aesthetic as much as I do, this trend is one to watch.

Think rich leather, classic plaids, deeper colors, warm wood tones, and beautiful fringe details. There is something about this combination that feels both sophisticated and wonderfully comfortable. It brings a sense of history and character into a room without making it feel stuffy or overly formal.

What I love most about this look is that it doesn't feel precious. These are spaces that invite you to actually live in them. Picture a leather chair that only gets better with age, a plaid accent pillow layered with a beautiful throw, or a room grounded by rich wood tones and thoughtful accessories.

It's a look that feels established, collected, and personal.

How to bring this look into your home

You don't have to redesign an entire room to incorporate this aesthetic. Sometimes, a few intentional choices can make all the difference.

  • Introduce leather. A leather accent chair, ottoman, or decorative accessory can add warmth and a sense of timelessness.

  • Layer in classic patterns. Plaids are a wonderful way to bring depth and interest to a space, especially when paired with solid fabrics and complementary textures.

  • Embrace deeper colors. Chocolate brown, forest green, burgundy, and rich navy can create a beautiful foundation for a room.

  • Mix materials and finishes. Wood, leather, woven textiles, and metal accents help a space feel layered rather than overly coordinated.

The key is to make the room feel collected over time. You want the elements to work together without everything matching perfectly.

This is one of those styles that reminds me that a beautiful room doesn't have to feel untouchable. In fact, I think the best rooms are the ones that make you feel completely at home.

2. Trims and Fringe: The Details That Make a Room Feel Custom

If you know me, you know I'm a believer that when it comes to beautiful design details, more is more!

Decorative trims and fringe are such a fun way to take an otherwise simple piece and make it feel special. They add personality, texture, and a level of detail that can elevate an entire space.

And the best part? These finishing touches don't have to be reserved for elaborate or formal interiors.

Think about a beautiful drapery panel finished with a decorative trim, a solid-colored pillow with contrasting fringe, or an upholstered chair with a tailored detail along the edge. The base piece might be relatively simple, but that extra layer makes it feel considered and unique.

It's often these smaller details that separate a room that looks nice from one that feels truly custom.

Where I love incorporating decorative details

  • Pillows: One of my favorite ways to introduce trim or fringe is through decorative pillows. It's an opportunity to bring in a new texture, complement an existing color palette, or add a little unexpected personality.

  • Drapery: The right trim can turn beautiful window treatments into a real design feature. It's a subtle way to add interest without overwhelming the room.

  • Upholstered furniture: Decorative details along the edges of a sofa, chair, or ottoman can make a piece feel more tailored and distinctive.

  • Layered textiles: Combining different fabrics, textures, and finishes creates depth and keeps a room from feeling flat.

Of course, the goal isn't to add fringe to absolutely everything just because we can. It's about being intentional with the details and choosing elements that complement the overall design.

When these finishes are thoughtfully selected, they help tell the story of a room. They reflect the homeowner's personality and make the space feel like it was designed specifically for them.

And that, to me, is what great interior design is all about.

3. Curved Furniture and Scalloped Details: A Softer Approach to Traditional Design

I've been especially drawn to the return of traditional design elements, and curved furniture silhouettes and scalloped details are a perfect example of why.

For a while, so many interiors leaned heavily into clean lines, sharp edges, and streamlined silhouettes. While I appreciate the beauty of modern design, I love seeing spaces embrace softer shapes and more traditional details again.

Curved furniture brings a different energy into a room. A rounded sofa, a softly shaped accent chair, or an upholstered piece with a scalloped edge can make a space feel more inviting and visually interesting.

There's also something wonderfully nostalgic about these details. They remind me of traditional interiors and the familiar design elements many of us grew up around, but they can still feel fresh and relevant in a thoughtfully designed home.

How to incorporate curves and scalloped details

  • Choose an accent chair with a softer silhouette. A curved or scalloped chair can become a beautiful focal point without requiring you to change the entire room.

  • Look for rounded furniture shapes. Curved sofas, rounded ottomans, and softly shaped tables can balance the stronger lines already present in a space.

  • Use scalloped details thoughtfully. Whether it's an upholstered headboard, a decorative accessory, or a furniture silhouette, scalloping introduces a subtle feminine touch.

  • Balance old and new. Pair traditional shapes with updated fabrics, finishes, and complementary furnishings to create a room that feels current without chasing every new trend.

What I love about this direction is that it doesn't require us to abandon modern design altogether. It's about finding a balance and bringing back the elements that make a space feel comfortable, familiar, and personal.

To me, timeless design isn't about recreating a room exactly as it looked decades ago. It's about taking the details that have always appealed to us and incorporating them in a way that feels right for how we live today.

My Biggest Takeaway: The Best Rooms Feel Like You

As much as I enjoy seeing new ideas and discovering beautiful pieces, what excites me most about interior design is how these elements come together to create a feeling.

A room can have beautiful furniture, the perfect color palette, and all the right finishing touches, but the real magic happens when it feels like home.

Maybe that means incorporating the rich textures and classic patterns of an equestrian-inspired interior. Maybe it's adding a little fringe to a favorite pillow or choosing a curved chair that softens the entire room. Or maybe it's combining traditional details with pieces you've loved for years.

There isn't one right way to design a home, and I don't believe every trend belongs in every space.

I always want the design to reflect the people who live there, their lifestyle, and the way they want to feel when they walk through the door. My favorite spaces have personality. They're comfortable, welcoming, and thoughtfully put together, with details that make them feel unique to the homeowner.

Trends can be a wonderful source of inspiration, but you don't have to incorporate every one of them. The goal is to discover what resonates with you and use those ideas to create a home you truly love.

And if there's one thing these design directions have in common, it's that they invite us to move beyond a space that simply looks beautiful and create one that feels beautiful to live in.

That's always worth coming home to.
